George
has been with CHTC since 2003 and has always been proud to be part of the Town
Show. His roles have included Evacuee in Happy as Sandbag,
Little Jake in Annie Get Your Gun, The Mad Hatter in
the Children's Theatre production of Alice in Wonderland
(a very apt casting). George was delighted to be cast as Will Parker in the JoG
School production of Oklahoma. In our 2007 production
of Hello, Dolly! George revelled in the role of
Barnaby Tucker. For Blitz! the following year he took
on the smaller role of Bird to allow for the increasing demands of schoolwork.
Similarly for The King and I in 2009 George appeared
as an Amazon and Simon of Legree in the excellent ballet. His most recent
appearance was with the Youth Theatre in 2009 as Fritz, the German Shepherd dog
in A Dog's Life, part of Theatre in the Arcade.
George took
singing lessons at school and attended
Italia Conti Associates
Newbury where he studied Tap, Acting, Jazz, Ballet, Musical Theatre and Singing.
In
his
programme notes for Flower Drum Song, where he played
Wang San, George
said of CHTC that he really appreciated the advice and tuition
received from the directors and other cast members and he hoped that one day his
dreams of a career on the stage would come true.....
George is now in his second year at the Italia Conti Academy
of Theatre arts. His first year ended on a high with him as a featured
singer and dancer in their end of year show at the New Wimbledon Theatre
(Photo below shows George playing the part of Motel in
the year medley of Fiddler On The Roof). Said George “It was amazing to
perform in such a large and gorgeous theatre. Rehearsals were really intense
but it paid off in the end!”
Year
2 has kicked off with a bang as George has successfully auditioned for a new
musical called “Change the Day” by Tricia Walsh-Smith
(star of Pineapple Dance Studios and ex Conti pupil). He was cast as a dancer
and in the role of Jack. He also hosted the Italia Conti Newbury Christmas
Cabaret which he thoroughly enjoyed.
In December he began rehearsals in
London for “Change the Day” and went onto perform it
at Pineapple Dance Studios where some footage was taken for a TV series. Italia
Conti is now in it's 100th Year and they are celebrating with events such as a
thirteen part TV series and a spectacular summer show.
George's most recent activity with CHTC was
to help choreograph and rehearse the Children's Theatre production of
The Dracula Rock Show.
George had a big Centenary
year show with the Italia Conti School 12-17 July 2011at
The New Theatre
Wimbledon.
It was described by George as the
"Most
amazing show of my life!".
George has now completed his Second year, so he will graduate in 2012. It is always an excellent show with an opportunity to see so many
potential West End Performers in one night. This year there is a Gala
performance on the Sunday evening with some ex - students back to
perform as well ( A few famous faces).
We will keep this page updated with his progress and wish him the best of luck
for the future.
