CHTC has received the following
appeal for a new BBC TV show. (Click
Here For Poster)
I am contacting you from
a television company called Reef TV. We are currently making a
BBC one program called ‘Trash to Cash’ and we are looking
for people to be on the show. I am contacting the The
Community of Hungerford Theatre Company to see if anyone knows of anyone
who has a house full of clutter, and who would like to get rid
of it in order to raise money for a charity of their choice (and
half the money goes to the people clearing out their house for a
personal project).
I wanted to send
you the info below in case any friends or supporters of your
group might be interested in being involved or indeed if they
know anyone else (friends, family, neighbours!!) who might be up
for it – it’s a great fundraising opportunity:
The show will help people
recycle, refurbish and repair the clutter in their homes in
order to raise money for themselves and a good cause of their
choice. Half of the money they raise will be for a personal
project the other half will be donated to charity.
We’ll help them sell
anything and everything that they no longer need. Our team of
experts will help people to make money by selling our items
through newspaper ads, local dealers, scrap merchants, salvage
yards, auctions and a Garage Sale.
If you know someone whose
home is crammed (who is not directly related to the charity)
with clutter and would be happy to donate half of the money they
raise by selling it to charity I would be extremely grateful if
you could get them to give me call as soon as possible, or email
their details, so that I can have a more detailed chat with them
about the show. My number is 0207 836 8595.
We will be filming
the series throughout November and December and I am trying to
find people as soon as possible – I’m keen to try and have a
chat with people who might be up for it, as quickly as I can.
I’ve also enclosed a poster for your information – do feel free
to put the poster up and spread the word to as many people as
possible! (we are currently looking to film with people on the
10th November, as someone has had to pull out due to illness, so
it is a little last minute!)
I look forward to
speaking with you soon,
Anne Rowland, Researcher,
Reef Television Ltd,

Young Performers
NEXT PRODUCTION -
The Fate of King Minos -
March 2009
Synopsis -
When fate is
decided by the gods one would hope they’d take it
more seriously than a game of snap. Unfortunately
for King Minos this is not the case. This play,
written specifically for the Young Performers,
includes several well-known Greek myths including
that of Theseus and the Minotaur and it gives both
boys and girls the chance to be gods, heroes,
inventors and kings.

The Players
The
Players were proud to present……
Love Begins at Fifty - A
Farce in Two Acts by Raymond Hopkins
This very successful show ran Friday/Saturday 6th/7th June at the
Croft Hall and was sold out on both nights. The
packed audiences were laughing throughout this hilarious play
and enjoyed it immensely. Our condolences to those who
were not able to get in and join in with the fun: Next time the
secret is to book early!
The author of the play joined
us on the Saturday Night and we are pleased to say that he
thought our production was excellent! He donates
all his share of the proceeds to Multiple Sclerosis research so
we were glad to help towards such a good cause.
So far he has raised over £2000!

"Beowulf" a
new play by Hoffi Munt - delighted a large audience
on Saturday 29th March at the John O ’Gaunt Community Technology
College, Priory Road, Hungerford.
-
This was an
adaptation of the classic story
Beowulf, also recently released as a Motion Picture.
-
Beowulf is the
tale of a hero who faces three terrible monsters;
first the monster Grendel who is terrifying the
Danes, then Grendel's mother who seeks revenge for
her son's death and finally a dragon who threatens
Beowulf's own people. In this play adaptation there
were great roles, for boys and girls,
giving the cast a chance to work with puppets, dress
up as a dragon and help Beowulf complete his heroic
story.

BLITZ!
comes `Down Your Lane`
Brick Lane to be precise and the
Hungerford production of Lionel Bart`s
Blitz!
is well on track for the opening night
of 20th Feb.
The orchestra is rehearsing hard, the
sets are almost built and the ladies here namely Jane Pike,
Shirley Dancey and Tessa Brown are planning to add that
genuine homely cockney housewife appeal to the show!
The great thing said Shirley is that
everyone mucks in to make it happen. M&P Hardware have donated
paint for the scenery, Jane Corbett is helping out with the
Millinery, David Liddiard facilities for set building, and the
John O' Gaunt School and Leisure Centre are a great support
with rehearsal and show facilities.
Another great contributor is Crown
Needlework acting as our box office.

In 1940 the East End
of London is taking a terrible pounding from Hitler`s bombs.
Life, however, goes on centring around Mrs Blitztein and her
large family, especially her petty-criminal son Harry and her
beautiful daughter Carol, They all fight their own particular
battles with neighbours and authorities alike through many
situations, many humorous, some tragic, and eventually find
their own individual peace. The show features many great
songs, including; 'The day after Tomorrow', 'Far Away' and
'Mums and Dads'.
- This year looks like
being better than ever with great sets, a strong cast of 50
local performers and an excellent pit orchestra drawn from
local talent.
- For the week the
school hall of the John O` Gaunt Community Technical College
will be transformed into a theatre with comfortable tiered
seating and much of the ambience you would expect from much
larger venues. All this right on your doorstep !!
