Poster - Gone With The BooksThe Players performance of an original production - Gone With The Books - took place at The Corn Exchange, Hungerford on 21st & 22nd September 2007.

  • Cast Photo - Gone With The BooksGone With The Books was specially written for The Players by Hoffi Munt who also wrote The Stairway To… for the recent Youth Theatre production.

  • With overtones of farce this is a fast moving intrigue centred around the activities of a struggling literary agency run by Kate Beckwell (played by Jennifer Hyde). With conspiracy afoot even in a deserted library anything can happen and seems to.

This production was sponsored by The Hungerford Bookshop

The Children's Theatre presented two performances of the musical 'Romeo and Juliet' at John O' Gaunt Community Technical College, Priory Road, Hungerford on Saturday 7th July 2007. This was as part of HADCAF 2007

Based on the play by William Shakespeare with new lyrics and music written by Debbie Campbell, this musical was a wonderful way of introducing young people to the works of Shakespeare. The music was dramatic and varied, with fighting songs, dances and romantic solos, in both traditional and modern styles. Two onstage choirs represented the opposing Montague and Capulet families.

As David Clayton the show Director said `This is excellent news as up until now we have to hire most of the lighting equipment we need to stage a show. These new lights will be a great help and we much appreciate the generosity of First Great Western in giving them to us`.
