BBC ONE SHOW TRASH TO CASH IS LOOKING FOR YOU!

CHTC has received the following appeal for a new  BBC TV show. (Click Here For Poster)

I am contacting you from a television company called Reef TV. We are currently making a BBC one program called ‘Trash to Cash’ and we are looking for people to be on the show. I am contacting the The Community of Hungerford Theatre Company to see if anyone knows of anyone who has a house full of clutter, and who would like to get rid of it in order to raise money for a charity of their choice (and half the money goes to the people clearing out their house for a personal project).

I wanted to send you the info below in case any friends or supporters of your group might be interested in being involved or indeed if they know anyone else (friends, family, neighbours!!) who might be up for it – it’s a great fundraising opportunity:

The show will help people recycle, refurbish and repair the clutter in their homes in order to raise money for themselves and a good cause of their choice. Half of the money they raise will be for a personal project the other half will be donated to charity.

We’ll help them sell anything and everything that they no longer need. Our team of experts will help people to make money by selling our items through newspaper ads, local dealers, scrap merchants, salvage yards, auctions and a Garage Sale.

If you know someone whose home is crammed (who is not directly related to the charity) with clutter and would be happy to donate half of the money they raise by selling it to charity I would be extremely grateful if you could get them to give me call as soon as possible, or email their details, so that I can have a more detailed chat with them about the show. My number is 0207 836 8595.

We will be filming the series throughout November and December and I am trying to find people as soon as possible – I’m keen to try and have a chat with people who might be up for it, as quickly as I can. I’ve also enclosed a poster for your information – do feel free to put the poster up and spread the word to as many people as possible! (we are currently looking to film with people on the 10th November, as someone has had to pull out due to illness, so it is a little last minute!)

I look forward to speaking with you soon,

Young Performers

NEXT PRODUCTION - The Fate of King Minos -

Saturday 28th March 2009 at 2.30pm - Croft Hall

MinatorSynopsis - When fate is decided by the gods one would hope they’d take it more seriously than a game of snap. Unfortunately for King Minos this is not the case. This play, written specifically for the Young Performers, includes several well-known Greek myths including that of Theseus and the Minotaur and it gives both boys and girls the chance to be gods, heroes, inventors and kings.

  • Rehearsals are taking place on Saturdays 11am- 12 noon at  the John O'Gaunt Youth & Community Centre.

Appeal for Photos & Programmes

You will see that this site now includes photos from past productions but there are several productions / shows where we have very few pictures or none at all, especially with The Players and The Young Theatre Groups.

  • If you have pictures at home, either as hard copy photos or as image files, please let us know.
  • We will scan / copy the pictures, return the originals to you and post the best ones to this site to give us a more complete archive of previous activities and events.
  • We also need posters or programmes from Pantomimes 1981-1983 inclusive.

Thanks to Liz Young and Ken Findlay for the loan of programmes from their collections. Also to Shirley Dancey, John Miles and Dave Howard for photos.

If you can help, please contact Paul at the e-mail address below.
